Yesterday, ABC lead news anchor Charlie Gibson admitted that he didn’t know the story of James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles (as of yesterday The Beefboy’s Gladiators of the Moment) who single-handedly disgraced ACORN by posing as a pimp and a prostitute and exposing the corruption of this government funded organization. This story has been developing for Two Weeks and caused ACORN to lose the 2010 American Census and lose funding from an overwhelming vote in the senate. Even if you’re not following the story of O’Keefe and Giles, how can Charlie Gibson possibly miss the fallout? Where is the mainstream media, or Old Media on this story?
Gibson is a good example of what’s lacking in Old Media. If the guy who is the LEAD ANCHOR of ABC News knows less than the Beefboy, then Old Media has just proved conclusively how radically irrelevant they are. I don’t have a news team, so I’m not going to suggest that you should get your news from me, but I will say that I don’t exist in the Old Media Bias Bubble, so what you do learn from me is unhinged from the myopic vision of a handful of people in the elite entrenched establishment.
If Gibson is ignorant of the ACORN story, which is one of the most fascinating and important stories of the year, then what else are he and his buddies at NBC, CBS and editors at ancient newspapers missing? And what are you missing by paying attention to Old Media? What irrelevance are they currently parcelling out to the masses? If they can miss a story that has corruption, fraud and felony in a multi-national organization, funded by United States Tax dollars, then they can miss ANYTHING!
Gibson just passed the torch to cable news, the internet news of Matt Drudge and Arianna Huffington, to the boys and girls of Talk Radio, to the infotainment shows of Bill Maher and Stephen Colbert, and to the Beefboy in the blogosphere!
Thanks Charlie. You and your posse are done. Viva le Beefboy!

What a tool.
On the subject of “old media” and “new media”, I think both can complement each other. Bloggers don’t necessarily have news teams and the resources to replace “old” media establishments, but it’s good to find a blog (such as the Beefboy’s rants) to get a different perspective on the news. Especially when the guys who are giving us the news apparently don’t even know what going on.
Several of the people I mentioned above don’t have news teams either, actually.
I’m not a reporter. I don’t “generate” news. I’m a commentator. What I’m giving you here is my opinion on the news (it’s a well-informed opinion, designed to be provocative, but an opinion nonetheless). My point is that no one should get their news from any one source, and apparently, that includes Charlie Gibson. If he had looked outside his bubble, then he would have seen the ACORN story.
I still think the biggest waste of your time is spending 30 minutes every night watching the Big Three’s nightly news, but to each their own. I do regularly read about three of the ancient newspapers.
For God’s sake, don’t just read what I post here! Everyone should do a little homework and know what’s going on. Then form your own opinion. Ryan, you’re right. I agree there is information in every corner, old and new, and you should seek it out everywhere you can find it.
By the way, I just recently started posting my own news feed through Twitter. It includes news that I find interesting or informative, plus some of my commentary. You can see that in the column to the right called, “The Beefboy’s Funky News”, or you can subscribe on Twitter @theBeefboy.
